The Demon of Revenge. Cruel. Devious. A terrifying, mass-murdering venomous force that can never be stopped... That was the Lovecraftian creature we came to know as Pumpkinhead, who scared the hell out of movie audiences back in 1988 in a celebrated horror thriller starring Lance Henriksen and directed by Stan Winston. THE PUMPKINHEAD COMPANION follows the path of one of this film's co-creators, screenwriter Gary Gerani, from the demon's earliest incarnation in 1970s Brooklyn (co-conceived with buddy Mark Patrick Carducci), to his cinematic rebirth as Pumpkinhead a decade later. It also tracks the movie's production. with recollections and rare materials from poem writer Ed Justin, producers Billy Blake and Richard Weinman, the late Stan Winston himself and original creature creators Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff Jr. Beyond this, all of the efforts to create a new film incarnation of the Demon of Revenge are covered, with original material by Winston, Gerani, and Weinman featured. Licensed products and other tie-ins are also overviewed, and these include everything from posters to T-shirts to various comic book adaptations and high-end collector's statues. So start Halloween a little earlier this year, friends and fiends... cuddle up with THE PUMPKINHEAD COMPANIONI
